ABOUT THE AWARD
The Interception Return for Touchdown (PICK SIX) is not just the Greatest Play in All of Sport, but also the namesake of our website. Each week we honored the best PICK SIXES of the College Football weekend, and selected weekly winners. At season's end, we selected 6 finalists and opened it up to a Fan Vote via #PickSixNation - our interactive following on Twitter. Our award is named after the Pick Six Legend himself - Deion "Primetime" Sanders. 2013 SEASON WINNER We are proud to announce the winner of our inaugural Deion Sanders Award: TONEY HURD JR., TEXAS A&M Trailing big at halftime, Johnny Football led a furious comeback, but the Aggies still trailed by 3 in the final minutes. With Duke driving (and running the clock down), A&M needed an impact play from their defense - they got just that when Hurd Jr. jumped the route and housed a PICK SIX for the winning score. Of the 171 Pick Sixes we've seen this season, this one is surely a deserving candidate for the award. Congrats to Toney, Aggie Nation, and all of our weekly winners. The Award will look great in College Station, TX
2013 SEASON RUNNER-UPS
The 6 Finalists included Hurd, Stephon Tuitt (Notre Dame), Vinnie Sunseri (Alabama), Steven Nelson (Oregon State), Chris Whaley (Texas), Devon Edwards (Duke). After the Finalists were announced, we opened it up to a fan vote because of the weekly support and interaction from #PickSixNation on Twitter. The response was strong, with Toney Hurd the overwhelming favorite, followed by Steven Nelson and Vinnie Sunseri. All-American CB Darqueze Dennard voiced his opinion by ReTweeting a vote for Steven Nelson, who saw strong support from Beaver fans and his hometown Northside High (GA) community. We even saw the emergence of a write-in candidate, a #PickSixNation member: Joe Schlueter of Division III St. Norbert (WI). Schlueter's play [he grabs the INT, somehow escapes a pile of 12 players, hurdles a tackler and races 85 yards for the score] is worthy of the hype, and he received noteworthy support from the Green Knight community. STEVEN NELSON, OREGON STATE
VINNIE SUNSERI - ALABAMA
JOE SCHLUETER, ST. NORBERT
