Appalachian State defeats #5 Michigan in the Big House
As is tradition in major college football, the BCS schools schedule lower level, FCS teams for the first few weeks, viewed as tune-up games for the conference slate. Appalachian State, a small school from Boone, North Carolina, entered the 'Big House' to take on the #5 ranked team in the nation as heavy underdogs, so much that Vegas did not even publish a betting line. The Mountaineers, led by QB Armanti Edwards, jumped out to a 28-17 halftime lead, and also led 31-26 to start the 4th. Michigan scored a TD to go up 32-31.
