It is hard enough to settle the annual National Championship debates every December and January. Even more difficult: comparing past champions, and arguing which team is the greatest of All-Time. As we trudged through the 2012-2013 offseason, Pick Six Previews settled the debate once and for all: Who is the Greatest College Football Team of the BCS Era (1998-2012)?
With the help of "What If Sports" (a complex historic matchup program that virtually simulates games), we created a comprehensive bracket style tournament with past champions and at-large teams dating back to 1998 (since they only have the data for teams back to 1998). Not only does the program determine a winner, but also gives in-depth stats and a box score. The result of the Champions Tournament from last offseason: LINK to the entire bracket and game scores/summaries 2013 EDITION
As we enter yet another offseason, rather than do an entire tournament again, we will have the new champion, 2013 Florida State, face off against the 8 best teams (as determined by our previous simulation). Game matchups, scores, stats, and analysis will be released every few days in February. Here is the schedule of opponents coming soon: Jameis Winston has still never lost a collegiate game, let's see if he can survive the Champions Gauntlet |
