Time for Pick Six Preview’s week nine Love/Hate fantasy rankings. Week 8 went incredibly well, especially since it was our inaugural fantasy rankings. The only big miss was Andy Dalton, but no one could have predicted him connecting with Marvin Jones for FOUR touchdowns. If Marvin Jones is still available in your league for some reason, go pick him up immediately. Also, there’s a possibility that Percy Harvin may be playing for the Seahawks very soon. If you’re in a league like mine, some chump has been stashing him on his bench all season, but if you’re lucky he might just be a free agent in yours. Manning (no pun intended) the waiver wires is incredibly important during this middle stretch of the league when injuries are starting to pile up, make sure you’re on top of things in that regard. With that being said, let’s take a look at the week 9 Love/Hate list…
Love: Tony Romo: With the Vikings coming to town, Romo has a great chance to get 25+ points. Cam Newton: Playing the rival Falcons, the Panthers have a chance to finally prove to everyone that they are a force to reckon with in the NFC South. The Panthers are the NFC’s sneaky good team this year, and look for Cam to have a great game this Sunday. Philip Rivers: Vegas has the O/U for this Chargers vs. Redskins game at 51, which means there will be a lot of points scored this Sunday. Look for Rivers to pick apart the Redskins defense.
Hate: Aaron Rodgers: Playing the Bears, a divisional rival, will cause a low scoring game for the Packers. Look for them to try and focus on the run game more that is starting to pick up some steam in recent weeks. Matt Ryan: Still lacking wide receivers, and on the road versus a very good Panthers defense, not liking Ryan’s odds this week. Andrew Luck: The Colts are going on the road to Houston this week, and regardless of who is playing quarterback for the Texans, their defense is still one of the best in the league. Look for Luck to struggle against their rivals off the bye.
Love: Eddie Lacy: As I said above, expect the Packers to go run heavy versus a Bears time that has been poor against the run this season. Jamaal Charles: With the Chiefs on the road versus a tricky Bills defense, expect Reid to rely on the run game. Lesean Mccoy: Nick Foles is starting at QB again this week, and if the Eagles want to win they’re going to need to get McCoy more touches versus the Raiders.
Hate: Arian Foster: Injury issues, and if he does play he will be very limited. Chris Johnson: If you watched Monday Night Football this week, you know that the Rams defense is no joke.
Love: Steve Smith, Kenny Stills, Dez Bryant. Basically, love the matchups this week for these three players. Dez could have a HUGE game, especially with all of the controversy surrounding his on-field antics last week.
Hate: Jordy Nelson: It is no secret who Rodgers’ favorite target is, and there is no way the Bears leave him open. AJ Green: Playing Thursday night on the road, no more explanation necessary. Desean Jackson: How much do you trust Foles to get him the ball?
Love: Rob Gronkowski, Jason Witten: Brady target’s Gronk an unbelievable amount of times per game, and against the Steelers he’s bound to get big time points this week. I love Witten here because the Vikings don’t have a single linebacker that can cover him.
Hate: Jordan Reed, Martellus Bennett: I really don’t think RG3 is going to be 100% healthy this game, and Reed will struggle because of it. I don’t like Bennett this weekend because, well, his quarterback is Josh McCown.
Love: Seattle Seahawks: Playing the winless Bucs at home, the Seahawks D could have a MASSIVE week.
Hate: Dallas Cowboys: If you’re thinking about starting the Cowboys this weekend it is most likely because you’re starting D is on a bye week. Regardless, go elsewhere this week, because the Cowboys love to give up points at home.
Love: Stephen Gostkowski, Dan Bailey, Blair Walsh
Hate: Mason Crosby, Adam Vinatieri, Nick Folk.
Remember. These are simply suggestions as to players I believe will have above or below average weeks, so take that as you may. As is with any prototype, this format is subject to change week to week, so make sure to check back next Wednesday. Also, feel free to hit me up on Twitter: @PickSix_NFL
Best of luck this week.
