Offensive - Maty Mauk - Mauk threw up some impressive numbers in his game against Toledo. Mauk threw for 325 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown. That is downright crazy, but Mauk continues to solidify himself as one of the SEC’s best quarterbacks. After the loss of Dorial Green-Beckham and L’Damia
n Washington, many critics were unsure of the weapons that Mauk had at his disposal. There is no doubt that Mauk can put up some big numbers, and doesn’t need DGB to help him out. Mauk has a couple more tune-up games before he and the Tigers travel to the other Columbia (South Carolina), to go up against Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks. Defensive - Benardrick McKinney - While UAB was able to score 34 points on the Bulldog defense. Benardrick McKinney put on a defensive clinic amassing 12 total stops. 3.5 were tackles for loss, and also got a sack. The 6-5 245 lb. junior has another game to stat-filling game against the South Alabama Jaguars before the Bulldogs travel to Baton Rouge against the Tigers in a crucial SEC West battle where McKinney will be lining up across from Leonard "self-proclaimed Heisman" Fournette.
Special Teams - Andre Debose - When the “Swamp” is just the “Swamp” by name and not actually a swamp, Florida’s athletes can run. Andre Debose, who missed last year with a torn ACL looked like one of the dangerous athletes Florida always seems to have. Debose had a stellar day returning punts. In four attempts Debose amassed 97 yards, with a long of 55. If Debose can stay healthy then it seems like Florida might have a return man.
