Due to its importance across all eras, the career rushing record is one of the most prestigious in the sport. The metaphorical "Rushing Champions Belt" has been owned by 15 legendary players, some keeping the title as long as 22 years, others for just a season. Wisconsin's Ron Dayne has kept the Rushing Title since 1999.
