CHAMPIONS TOURNAMENT
It is hard enough to settle the annual National Championship debates every December and January. Even more difficult: comparing past champions, and arguing which team is the greatest of All-Time. As we trudge through the offseason, Pick Six Previews will settle the debate once and for all: Who is the Greatest College Football Team Ever?
With the help of "What If Sports" (a complex historic matchup program that virtually simulates games), we will create a comprehensive bracket style tournament with past champions and at-large teams dating back to 1996 (since they only have the data for teams back to 1996). Not only does the program determine a winner, but also gives in-depth stats and a box score. As the tournament progresses, we will publish the results round by round and also discuss the top performers.
Every Thursday and Monday, we will progress the tournament and analyze the results.
How will the former Heisman Winners fare against one another, and against the top defenses of the past 17 years? Hey Utah, enough complaining about the BCS- here is your chance to prove yourself against the sport's elite. 2001 Oregon, the computers picked against you- go prove you belonged instead of Nebraska. To 2005 Penn State and 2011 Oklahoma State, here is a second chance to make up for your fluke, last-second losses that cost you a chance at the crystal football.
38 Teams have been selected: The past 17 National Champions, and 21 At-Large Teams including 8 Non-AQ Undefeateds
Tournament Schedule:
January 10th - Team Selection "Meet the Teams"
January 14th - Bracket Released
January 17th - Play-in games
January 21st - Opening Round pt. 1
January 24th - Opening Round pt. 2
January 28th - Second Round pt. 1
January 31st- Second Round pt. 2
