It is officially "Hate Week" in the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania, as the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions are about to renew their annual rivalry. Two of the BigTen's strongest brands also have two of the more passionate fan bases - the Twitter banter throughout #PickSixNation has been quite entertaining. Penn State views Ohio State as its significant, most hate-filled rival, while OSU has the "Team Up North" at the forefront. This imbalance spites Penn Staters even more. Factoring in the Buckeye's dominance of late (9 of last 12 victories), the recruiting steal of Pennsylvania-raised Terrelle Pryor, and Urban Meyer's current Big Ten regular season win streak of 18 games, it becomes evident why the Blue & White HATE the Scarlet & Gray.
Since Ohio State tied up the all-time series in 2002, there have been several constants in the rivalry. The attendance is always in 6 figures, teams are usually ranked (10 of 12 games featured a Top 10 team), BigTen title implications are on the line. And one additional annual tradition - Penn State throws a Pick Six at a crucial part of the game. In fact, in 5 of the last 7 games in Columbus, the Silver Bullet defense has housed a PSU pass. And don't forget several homefield Pick Sixes thrown in front of the White-Out student section. Such a tradition of futility has created a new use for the Nittany Lions' school acronym: Pick Six University:
