Known as the "Father of American Football" Walter Camp is credited with developing many facets and strategies of the sport.  Walter Camp also played at Yale from 1877-1882.

2013 Semifinalists:

Last season, Manti Te'o became just the 3rd defender to win the Walter Camp Award. This year, 3 defenders made the semifinalist cut: Barr, Mosley, and Sam.  Boyd, Bridgewater, Manziel, McCarron, and Miller are all back again from the 2012 semifinalist group. The Manziel-Evans combo makes Texas A&M the only team with multiple candidates:
