Heisman Moments: The 1990's
Heisman Moments for Wisconsin RB Ron Dayne (1999), Texas RB Ricky Williams (1998), Ohio State RB Eddie George (1995), Colorado RB Rashaan Salaam (1994), Michigan WR Desmond Howard (1991), BYU QB Ty Detmer (1990)
1999 HEISMAN: RON DAYNE
Ron Dayne was a workhorse for Wisconsin starting all 4 seasons at running back, and was one of just 5 players ever to rush for over 1000 yards in 4 seasons. In his final game, Dayne had the NCAA Career Rushing Record within his grasp; here is the carry that both broke the record AND won him the 1999 Heisman:

1998 HEISMAN: RICKY WILLIAMS, TEXAS"Ricky Williams gets the record [breaks Tony Dorsett's all-time rushing record], gets the touchdown, and, I dare say, the Heisman trophy."

1997 HEISMAN: CHARLES WOODSON
Although he had an important role in the return game, Woodson is considered the only primarily defensive winner of the award. Here in the Battle of Paul Bunyan, the Spartan QB was simply attempting to throw the ball out-of-bounds; Woodson grabs it with one hand and drags the toe in-bounds!

1994 HEISMAN: RASHAAN SALAAM, COLORADOOn this historic touchdown run, Salaam became just the 4th player ever to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season. He led Colorado into the top 5, with their only loss coming against national champion Nebraska. Salaam carried CU to the Fiesta Bowl, chasing down the Heisman along the way.
