"Presented to the Defensive Player of the Year by the Maxwell Football Club"
When the Maxwell Football Club decided to include a defensive player of the year award, the immediate naming choice was local football hero Chuck Bednarik.  "Concrete Charlie" was a 3-time All-American Linebacker at the University of Pennsylvania, and led the Philadelphia Eagles to victory in the 1960 NFL Championship.
