"Presented to the nation's Most Outstanding Tight End by Friends of John Mackey"
John Mackey is widely regarded as one of the best tight ends in the history of the sport.  Mackey was especially well-known for his dominance in the NFL, winning Super Bowls and catching passes from John Unitas.  The Award was created in 2000.
