Champions Tournament (2012) > Champions Gauntlet (2013 FSU) > 2013 FSU vs. 1998 UT > vs. 1999 FSU > vs. 2000 OU > vs. 2002 Ohio State
In our 5th of 8 computer simulated games between the current champion and other dominant champions of the BCS era, we have the 2005 Texas Longhorns attempting to give Jameis Winston his first loss.
2005 LONGHORNS Following a Rose Bowl Victory over Michigan in which he rushed for 192 yards and FOUR Touchdowns, QB Vince Young announced to America, "We'll be back" (referencing the National Championship's location in Pasadena the following year). From Preseason to Bowl Season, Texas was ranked #2 (behind USC) and besides a close 25-22 win at #4 Ohio State, it was pure dominance. In the other 11 games, Texas outscored opponents 586-153, an average margin of victory of 53-14. Vince Young dazzled his way to NYC for the Heisman ceremony but was voted runner-up to Reggie Bush (vacated). He proved the voters wrong on January 4th in Pasadena, where he gave us one of the best individual performances this sport has ever seen. 30 of 40 passes for 267 yards, 200 yards rushing and 3 Touchdowns - all the while leading an epic 4th quarter comeback, and the iconic game-winning scramble on 4th & 5. Coming into the game, all the national experts were discussing the 2005 USC team as one of the best teams of all-time; 2005 Texas reminded America that USC wasn't even the greatest that season. MATCHUP RESULTS Much like 2005 Texas, 2013 Florida State coasted through the regular season and used a 4th quarter comeback to claim the crystal football in the BCS Championship Game. In our Champions Gauntlet, 2013 FSU survived a close test against 2000 Oklahoma, but has dominated the other past Champions. All good runs come to an end. 2005 Texas and Vince Young would not be denied in this one, putting up huge scores against the vaunted FSU defense. '05 Texas won the series 9 games to 6 with an average score of 37-30. All due respect to 2011 Alabama, but I don't agree with the simulation's results from our tournament last year (bracket below); 2005 Texas is one of the best teams of all-time and Top 2 of the BCS era. After this humbling first loss, 2013 Florida State limps into the Swamp to take on their bitter rivals - 2008 Florida Gators. Results of our Champions Tournament (Last Offseason):
Last Offseason we completed an entire 38-team tournament of Champions from the BCS era. Below are the links to last years bracket and results:
