2016 PAC-12 CONFERENCE PREVIEW While there are no expected Playoff teams from the Pac-12, it is the deepest league top-to-bottom. There are very few easy weeks in this league, and I expect both division champions to be roughed up a bit in conference play resulting in a 2-loss champion just like
Stanford last season.Stanford and Oregon are 48-2 against the rest of the North Division this decade, but in May I went on the Bill King Show and declared my sleeper pick to finally unseat the kings: Washington. In a rebuilding year, this defense still finished #1 in the league, and the trio of freshman stars on offense are now seasoned vets. Usually I expect a coach’s second season as the breakthrough year, but given the roster turnover I pegged Chris Petersen’s third season as the big one. The third season is here. In the South, it is a 50/50 toss up nationally between USC and UCLA. I felt that USC was a very talented team that was going through some odd coaching instabilities but now with a stable staff and the return of defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast, I expect the blue-chip talent to be used effectively. I just feel more positive energy and momentum from the USC program than I do the UCLA program. CLICK ON THE DIVISION NAMES FOR FULL TEAM PREVIEWS:
